Cherokee City Park offers tons of family fun and plays host to many Alfalfa County events, like Cherokee's annual Fourth of July celebration. The park features two grassy areas, one with a playground and tennis court and another with picnic tables and shelters, a horseshoe pit and barbecue grills. Annual Events at Cherokee City Park


Cherokee City Park is the place to be during Fourth of July in Alfalfa County. Activities begin in the morning with games and food at the park, continue with a free swim in the afternoon at Cherokee Swimming Pool and conclude in the evening with turtle races and fireworks at Alfalfa County Fairgrounds. Best Time to Visit Cherokee City Park


Cherokee City Park is open year-round to the public and to travelers passing through looking for a rest area. Spring and fall are the best times to see the park's trees and bushes in full swing, and during summer, the park stays busy day and night with visitors to Cherokee Swimming Pool, nightly pickleball matches and families taking advantage of the playground equipment and facilities at the park.

Boondocking


Cherokee's public park is marked as a place for self-contained travelers to park overnight. Travelers needing to boondock at Cherokee City Park do not need to make a reservation but should let local police officers know that you are planning to sleep in the parking lot. If you need to stay overnight at Cherokee Municipal Park, please call (580) 596-3326 before arriving or upon arrival.

Directions to Cherokee City Park


The park and Cherokee Swimming Pool are located on East 2nd Street. Travelers can reach the park from State Highway 64 by turning east on 2nd Street and driving seven blocks.



Parking


Cherokee City Park features a spacious parking lot with free parking. Some shade is available. There is never a charge for parking at Cherokee City Park.
